Elastic for straps and buckles, available in black or white. This elastic has a a very fine mesh running through the centre which makes it easier for the pin of a buckle to pass through. It is also suitable for sling back style elastic or any other elasticated crafts :)

Adding elastic to straps and buckles on footwear allows these areas of high stress to flex with wear, this can make the shoes more comfortable and last longer.

This elastic is approximately 1cm wide. If you are using this within a strap or slingback style shoe, your strap needs to be at least 1.2cm wide to properly encase the ends of the elastic. This elastic fits buckles with a 1cm+ internal diameter.

What can I make with this?

You can make comfortable, flexible shoes with elasticated straps! Use buckle elastic when you're creating footwear with a buckle fastening, allowing the strap to have a little extra stretch while still giving your design a polished, secure finish.

Please note:

This is a shoemaking material rather than a finished fastening. You'll need to incorporate it into your own upper pattern alongside a suitable buckle.
